5 RULES FOR DECORATING FROM SCRATCH

A blank slate can be beautiful, but it can also pose the greatest challenge. This is exactly where Donna Mondi comes in.

His latest clients are a couple of empty nests who want to make the transition from a "dark, very traditional" home in Chicago's suburbs to a modern, clean-lined new building in the city.

1. IDENTIFY THE THINGS THAT YOU LOVE.

Mondi acknowledges that your design instincts will kick in after you have spoken with clients and discussed their space. However, Mondi also says that concept imagery is an important part of fine-tuning design. . He says, "It could include projects we've done previously, or things we found on Pinterest...we learn our preferences [customers] by showing them visual cues." These signs can be anything from paint colors to fabric to entire rooms. Interior Designers in Delhi "We want it to have our style, but we understand that everyone has different lifestyles and preferences.

2. DON'T FORGET YOUR LIFESTYLE.

Mondi's clients had to move from a suburban home with children to a city apartment. Mondi says that it's the first time they have made decisions for themselves and their children about how they want to live. At this point you are ready to live a more organized life. This means that the pieces you've collected have become more meaningful and important.

3. START WITH A NUTRITIONAL PADDLE.

Mondi warns that neutrals can quickly fail, but he prefers to start his interiors with a palette consisting of "black and all" for longevity. He says that these colors will never go out of fashion.

How can you keep things interesting? Color is a great way to add color to easily-replaceable spots. You can add color to simple places with small accessories, such as coffee table books or flower arrangements.

Even if you don’t add color, texture pieces can "keep [a place] vibrant." You can think of leather mixed with fabric and richly textured items like faux fur. Mondi said, "I really love velvet and mohair."

4. ADD A POPS, THEN ANSWER IT.

Mondi points out the bright yellow console in the living area as a tip. "The owners made this decision before hiring us. We built everything from scratch and added the yellow in various ways throughout the space.

Mondi says that replicating the look makes it easier for the eye to accept it as normal. This is particularly useful in open spaces like Interior designers in Delhi where you want to create a sense cohesion (in this instance, the living, kitchen and dining areas). . . "If it's one element, your brain can't process it. Your mind is asking 'Why is this here? It doesn't need to be connected with anything.

A simple detail such as lemons on the counter in the kitchen can help connect it with the yellow accents in living room.

5. THINK VERTICALLY.

Mondi chose to break the long stretches and treat the vertical spaces within the window niches, allowing for views such as those seen from this apartment. With eye-catching sculptures. "I like the height difference. "He's looking at me so it's not all level.
